Miles and Miles.

I lay in bed until one this morning unable to sleep, then went to the sofa and messed with my phone until after four. I finally fell asleep and got about three hours rest. Luke was in a good mood this morning, but a little wild before leaving for school. I left at the same time he did and drove into town. I ordered interior doors, then drove to another building supply store in Pulaski. It was a bust, as I kind of expected it to be. Next I drove to Southeastern Salvage in Huntsville. They did not have the countertops I wanted, but had some that will work. My next stop was a supply house in Snead, Alabama. I bought some cedar there and looked at their vanities. Finally I went to Dixie Salvage in Fort Payne. There I bought three vanities to be picked up next week. It was after six by the time I arrived in Monteagle. First I drove to the library parking lot to use the internet, then went to my storage unit to organize a bit. I was making good progress but stopped and put everything back inside when it started to sprinkle. Back at the cottage I have just been relaxing. I will try to go to bed fairly early.

Really coming together.

This morning after a stop at the lumberyard I arrived at the job site and started setting things up. My dad arrived once the house was nice and toasty, and we got a lot accomplished. We installed a lot of trim on the ceilings, all of the closet shelves, and brought in the remainder of the cedar to rip down for more trim. I am really pretty happy with how things are looking. We packed up a little after two and returned to the cottage. I unhooked the trailer and hit the road, driving home via Fayetteville. It was good to play with Luke before dinner. He had a lot of energy. I bathed him after dinner and Liz did bed time. He was talking a lot even after Liz left.

Back on track, and sweating.

I woke up about 3:30 this morning and couldn’t fall back asleep. After getting out of bed at a more reasonable hour I went to the job site to set up and run the heater before my dad arrived. He came and we worked on the vaulted cedar ceiling, installed the attic ladder, and started on some ceiling trim. We worked until after dark. I am pretty pleased with the progress we made today, although it felt slow at times. This even has just been quiet and I think I will watch a movie I downloaded this weekend.

An unexpected office day.

Last night I arrived at the cottage around 11:30 and slept in a little this morning. It was rainy and nasty, so I focused on organizing my receipts, running errands, and doing other work on the computer. This afternoon it got even colder and very foggy. I made a bean dish in the slow cooker. Tonight I’m just looking at auctions online, and will watch the latest episode of Magnum PI shortly.

New adventures.

This morning we decided to go to a new playground because Luke wanted to kick the soccer ball, and this park had ball fields. Unfortunately it was gated without explanation. So we found another park nearby that had two great play areas and Luke had a lot of fun. Since we forgot to pack a snack we went to a coffee shop in Mount Pleasant. It was a really neat spot and we enjoyed relaxing and talking with the proprietor. We decided to do some scenic driving so Luke could nap, so we passed through some pretty areas west of town. This afternoon we just hung out around the house. Later Liz went to the grocery store and Luke and I played soccer on the back deck. Liz is putting him to bed now although he seems pretty amped up. Soon I will drive to Monteagle.
