Coughing, testing, mowing, and more.

I woke up a little before four this morning and couldn’t get back to sleep. Luke got up a couple of hours later and we read books while Liz made pancakes. After eating we went to the farmers market and he rode his tricycle around. We ended up at the little splash pad and he was happy to take off his clothes and play there. After lunch he failed at taking a nap, so he went with Liz for a drive while I took trash to the dump then mowed the yard. I also went to get tested for the virus at CVS and will get my results within a couple of days. I cleaned up the kitchen while waiting for Liz and Luke to return from the playground. We had a nice dinner and Luke did pretty well at bed time.

A third nurse’s shift.

The electricians arrived early this morning and we all got to work. Unfortunately my task was quite boring – screwing down the deck boards on the two rear porches. That took nearly eight hours. After finishing that I started on the front porch stairs for the second house, but didn’t make much progress. I knocked off a little early and showered at the cottage before going to dinner at the dining hall on campus. It was pretty delicious. From there I drove home. Luke was of course asleep and Liz nearly was. Since arriving my cough has really gotten bad.

Sunny and rolling.

I got to the job site a little before seven this morning and one of the electricians was already there. After chatting with him I went to the lumberyard before getting down to work. I finished the railings and stairs and installed the last couple of deck boards on the front porch. I did taker about a two hour break this afternoon to talk on the phone with my friend Alex, who is moving to Mexico next week. I ended the day by screwing down more of the deck boards on the back porch, a task that will go well into tomorrow. It was about 7:40 by the time I left. I stopped at Piggly Wiggly and have just been relaxing at the cottage.

Another half (twelve hour) day.

I picked up some wood at the lumberyard this morning and then went to the job site. I worked on railing and then stairs on the front porch of the first house. It went pretty well and the weather was great. I made a couple more trips to the lumberyard and worked until about seven. I stopped by Piggly Wiggly for some food and am now just relaxing.

Finally making my way back to the Mountain.

Luke was still snotty this morning and so I stayed home with him. We built towers and read books all morning. Liz went to get tested for the virus in Pulaski and we stayed home and ate lunch. He took an hour long nap after making a monster line-up of almost everything in his bedroom. He was in a weird mood this afternoon, maybe because he knew he was going to the doctor’s office. At three Liz took him there and I drove to Monteagle. At the job site I just pulled most of the tape and paper off the houses. It was nice to see the contrast between siding and trim, although I do have plenty of touch up painting to do on both. After getting a little food at Piggly Wiggly I have been reading at the cottage. I also chatted on the phone with Liz for a bit.
