Working, driving, playing.

This morning I hauled trash to the dump and organized things a little in the house while waiting for the HVAC guy to come finish up. I also started installing knobs on the kitchen cabinets. After the HVAC guy left I stopped by the Goat Market for some goodies, and chatted with Eric for a few minutes. Then I drove to Lowe’s in Shelbyville, where I ordered more bathroom wall tile. She said they are available from the vendor, so that is good. When I called the vendor yesterday I was told they were out for a few months. I drove home and was able to get Luke when he woke up from his nap. We played with blocks until Liz was done with work, then we went for a walk up in Spring Hill and got pizza to go from a place we really like. After dinner and bath Luke went to bed. Now I am just catching up on blog posts while Liz does whatever she is doing right now.

Churchy day.

The time change was a little rough, but we made it to church this morning. after lunch we had a visit from the rector while Luke napped. Then we went on another walk at the nature park. The moon was lovely this evening, and I will be heading to the Mountain soon.

Son, fun, and sun.

The morning began when Luke woke up at 5:30. He was ready to roll. Liz made breakfast cookies and we played a lot. I had to go pick up some wood in Chapel Hill, and after that we went on a walk at the nature park. Luke loved pulling some big branches as we walked. Lunch was a pumpkin chili that I prepared in the slow cooker. It was quite tasty. Luke and I both napped after lunch. Then it was time for another walk at the park. Despite the sunshine it was still a little cool. Tomorrow will be warmer. Dinner was good and Luke enjoyed his bath, as usual. He was pretty rowdy afterwards though. I promised him that tomorrow will be another good day.

Lots of time in the car, almost none working.

This morning I started by getting some trash at the house then going to the dump. Then on to pay the power bill in Tracy City and the materials bill in Monteagle. After getting a trailer at the cottage I drove down to Southeastern Salvage in Chattanooga and picked up two countertops. The drive wasn’t fun, but I made it. Unloading the countertops was a challenge as well. I packed up at the cottage and then went next door to chat with Debbie for a few minutes. After that I drove to Cedar Direct in Chapel Hill, where I ordered some wood for the soffit, which I will pick up tomorrow. Finally I returned home. Before going inside I unloaded the scrap wood from the trailer to the dump pile. Then I was finally able to see Liz and Luke. We played with his new wooden blocks before dinner, ate dinner, then had bath time. He was in a great mood.

Lovely weather, low motivation.

Luke got up pretty early this morning, therefore Liz and I did as well. After reading books, eating breakfast, and playing with blocks I hit the road. My first stop was the dump, where I dropped off our trash, then I drove to Home Depot in Manchester. That took a little longer than expected, but I did get everything I needed. I arrived at the cottage and just wasted a bit of time before going to the house just after noon. Since the day was so glorious I started out by installing trim on the porch. Then I built cover panels for the crawlspace openings. Next I built and installed the beam supports and trimmed around the beams. After that I went and got some stuff from the storage unit and some food from the Goat Market. I chatted with Eric for a while before returning to the house. I organized things a bit more and loaded all of the scrap wood into the trailer and fastened the tarp. This evening I have just been relaxing around the cottage.
