Hot and busy Saturday.

We went to the greenway and farmer’s market first thing this morning. Then we raced up to the doctor’s office in Cool Springs. Luke had a few bug bites that Liz wanted to get checked out. It took a long time and we got back home for a late lunch. Then Luke had a nap. His only one of the day. This afternoon we went to the park in Spring Hill. Luke had lots of fun with his beach ball.

Finally Friday.

I started the day off with a little run/hike on the Perimeter Trail at Sewanee this morning. Then I stopped by the Goat Market before going down to Lowe’s in Kimball, via Tracy City and Jasper. I stopped by Foster Falls, but the parking lot was packed with a group that had just arrived, so I passed. After Lowe’s I returned to the cottage and started splitting and loading wood. The excavator called and said he could come dig out the footings, so I met him and knocked that out in a little over an hour. Back at the cottage I finished loading the trailer, packed my bags, and headed home. I made a couple of stops along the way – at the block dealer in Winchester and the grocery store in Chapel Hill. I arrived home around 4:50 and was able to read to Luke and play with him a bit.

Porta-potty, water, lake.

It was nice to wake up at home this morning and see Liz and Luke before going up the Mountain. Late this afternoon the plumbers called and said that they were coming to install the water spigot. I arrived and talked with them, and also saw that the porta-potty had been delivered, although placed in the wrong location. It was shaping up to be a lovely evening, so I went to Lake Dimmick for sunset. After taking pictures I met a guy who was the coach of the Sewanee rowing team. We chatted for a while before I returned to the cottage.

A year and a half!

After getting done what I needed to on the Mountain, I came home this afternoon. Luke is 18 months old today. It was great to see him and give him a little present, a huge Crayon full of Legos. He seemed to enjoy playing with them and spreading them around the house. It is still very hot so we didn’t go outside this evening. He only had one nap today which led to a slightly earlier bedtime. I’ll stay here tonight and return to the Mountain in the morning.

It’s not raining so we’re pouring.

Well, the inspector came out first thing this morning and approved us. I went on a run/hike after that but kept getting interrupted with phone calls. I lined up the termite guy and the excavators had the concrete set. I waited for both at the job site starting at around 11:40. The sprayer arrived a little after two and the concrete closer to three. I had to run down to Manchester, and by the time I returned the crew was leaving. I checked things out, paid my bell, and left very happy. Now I need to email the block guy to get him all lined up. I decided to go photograph at Lake O’Donnell, which was glorious, and then at the Templeton Library, which was also amazing.

Mountain miracle.

I drove up to the Mountain yesterday evening and arrived around eleven. This morning I was due to meet the excavator at eight. For some reason I decided to go to the site at 7:15, which was a good thing, because he arrived five minutes later. He unloaded his machine and promptly got to work. He had two guys, plus his father come help. They didn’t grade as much as hoped for, and we are going to have stepped footers. Oh well, I knew everything wouldn’t go our way. But they dug the footers and placed the steel. I called the inspector about coming tomorrow afternoon but had to leave a message. No response yet. The termite guys are lined up for tomorrow, as are the porta-potty people. So things are starting to roll right along. Hopefully we will be able to pour concrete on Wednesday. This is a huge boost and a great feeling.

More heat, more walks.

Well, they are saying that the end is in sight. Thursday is supposed to be the last day of temperatures in the nineties. I’ll believe it when it happens. Today was pretty miserable again. Fortunately we were able to talk a walk at the new nature park before it got too warm. Luke didn’t take a morning nap so his afternoon nap was early, but long. He woke up just in time for the Lions to lose to the Chiefs. We went to the greenway before dinner so that Luke could run around some more. He had fun. We ate dinner, played a little more, then he went to bed.

Hot and busy Saturday.

We started with a walk along the greenway. Playing in the leaves was a lot of fun. Then an attempted nap. I went to the grocery store. We kept an eye on some football scores. Went to the playground this evening. I cooked two meals in the slow cookers.
