Yet another long day, with a bit more to show for it.
This morning I left the cottage a little before seven. I stopped for diesel then picked up a ladder at the lumberyard before getting to the job site. I unloaded all the tools and was setting up when my dad arrived. We decided to start working on the kitchen cabinets since it was a little cold and very windy outside. The installation went really well and we made good progress. There were two cabinets that we couldn’t finish because I need to relocate an air vent. I also cut some of the countertops to length. My dad finished installing the window trim, and it looks great. This afternoon we returned to working on the soffit and made good progress, although we didn’t finish. It was dark when we packed up and left. We got pizza to go from the Goat Market and ate it at the cottage. I have just been relaxing this evening, and will go to bed soon. I’m not going home tonight, and will instead take the day before Christmas Eve off.

Another long day, a bit less to show for it.
I woke up early this morning and left the cottage around seven. I went to the storage unit, lumberyard, and gas station before going to the job site. I started setting things up, and once my dad arrived we worked on the soffit. That was slow and frustrating. We worked until nearly one, after which time I drove down to Shelbyville to pick up cabinets. That journey was stressful but without incident. Back at the job site we unloaded half of them and I took the rest to the storage unit. I was too tired to go to the Valley for some things at Home Depot. I hope to go to bed early tonight.
A long day, but there’s a bit to show for it.
I got started before eight this morning, first picking up some stuff at the storage unit. Then setting things up to paint fascia and soffit boards. Then I went to get said boards. The electricians came today and installed fans, switches, outlets, and similar stuff. I didn’t take any pictures but the fans look great. They should be returning tomorrow. My dad arrived late morning with the kitchen countertops and bathroom flooring, and spent the rest of the day painting fascia and soffit, and sanding cedar trim. I focused on cutting and ripping cedar trim boards for the ceilings, windows, and doors. Unfortunately I am going to need more cedar. I turned on the lights and worked until well after dark. On the way back to the cottage I stopped at Piggly Wiggly. Tonight I’ll mess about on my phone, watch the latest episode of Magnum PI, and hopefully go to bed fairly early.
Tired.
Last night I didn’t sleep well, continuing a disturbing trend that has been going on for a little while now. Upon rising Luke and I played a bit while Liz made waffles. After breakfast I went to Kroger for a few things. The rest of the morning was pretty relaxed, as was the afternoon. Luke and I read and played while Liz ran some errands. I wanted him to nap so I could as well, but no luck. Around three we went to Lowe’s, the Factory again for some Christmas shopping, downtown to walk around the square, and finally for a drive through Woodland Park to see their Christmas light show. That was a real flop. Finally back home we had dinner consisting primarily of a soup I made in the slow cooker. Luke went to bed about seven since he was exhausted. After chatting with Liz for a bit I drove up to the cottage.

Exploring new things.
This morning we drove up to Spring Hill. After picking up an order at Target we went to Home Depot and Lowe’s. From there we went to the Factory in Columbia for a snack and to look around at the shops. Back at home we unpacked Luke’s new mattress, which was shipped to us. He was very excited about it and his new sheets. We spent the afternoon relaxing at home. Luke was a bit of a terror this evening, especially after bath.

Productive, but not in a fun way.
It was foggy and nasty when I got up this morning, and was supposed to rain. So I took some wood to the house, then spent a while organizing my storage units. I am pretty happy with how they are looking now. My dad called from Southeastern Salvage in Nashville to let me know about some countertops and flooring that looked good. He bought both and will bring them up next week. I also took some trash to the dump and a bicycle to the thrift store. I picked up some books at the library for a dollar and some lunch at Piggly Wiggly. I also went by the bank. After lunch and some computer work I drove down to Home Depot in Manchester, then Lowe’s in Tullahoma before arriving at home. It was fun to play with Luke before dinner. He was a bit of a handful at bed time though. I took over after Liz got super frustrated, and I didn’t leave his room until after nine.

Miles and Miles.
I lay in bed until one this morning unable to sleep, then went to the sofa and messed with my phone until after four. I finally fell asleep and got about three hours rest. Luke was in a good mood this morning, but a little wild before leaving for school. I left at the same time he did and drove into town. I ordered interior doors, then drove to another building supply store in Pulaski. It was a bust, as I kind of expected it to be. Next I drove to Southeastern Salvage in Huntsville. They did not have the countertops I wanted, but had some that will work. My next stop was a supply house in Snead, Alabama. I bought some cedar there and looked at their vanities. Finally I went to Dixie Salvage in Fort Payne. There I bought three vanities to be picked up next week. It was after six by the time I arrived in Monteagle. First I drove to the library parking lot to use the internet, then went to my storage unit to organize a bit. I was making good progress but stopped and put everything back inside when it started to sprinkle. Back at the cottage I have just been relaxing. I will try to go to bed fairly early.

Really coming together.
This morning after a stop at the lumberyard I arrived at the job site and started setting things up. My dad arrived once the house was nice and toasty, and we got a lot accomplished. We installed a lot of trim on the ceilings, all of the closet shelves, and brought in the remainder of the cedar to rip down for more trim. I am really pretty happy with how things are looking. We packed up a little after two and returned to the cottage. I unhooked the trailer and hit the road, driving home via Fayetteville. It was good to play with Luke before dinner. He had a lot of energy. I bathed him after dinner and Liz did bed time. He was talking a lot even after Liz left.

Back on track, and sweating.
I woke up about 3:30 this morning and couldn’t fall back asleep. After getting out of bed at a more reasonable hour I went to the job site to set up and run the heater before my dad arrived. He came and we worked on the vaulted cedar ceiling, installed the attic ladder, and started on some ceiling trim. We worked until after dark. I am pretty pleased with the progress we made today, although it felt slow at times. This even has just been quiet and I think I will watch a movie I downloaded this weekend.
An unexpected office day.
Last night I arrived at the cottage around 11:30 and slept in a little this morning. It was rainy and nasty, so I focused on organizing my receipts, running errands, and doing other work on the computer. This afternoon it got even colder and very foggy. I made a bean dish in the slow cooker. Tonight I’m just looking at auctions online, and will watch the latest episode of Magnum PI shortly.
