Not a bad Monday.
I was slow to get going this morning and arrived at the job site just before eight. The plumbers came a bit later and they were really productive today. I made several trips to get them supplies and did a bit of work myself. I was overall in a better mood than I have been. This evening I will try to read a bit and maybe do some journaling.
Getting things done all Sunday long.
This morning after a pancake breakfast we drove to the mechanic’s where I picked up the landscape truck and drove it back home. I had to add gas to it, and it took a while to get started, but the drive home was uneventful although a little nerve wracking. We then all went to the park at Port Royal, where Luke rode his tricycle and then played on the playground. Next we went to Kroger for a few things. Actually only I went in and the others stayed in the car. This afternoon we went to Yanahli Park. Luke rode his tricycle a bit and I carried it for a while. Everybody had a nice time though, and the weather was lovely. Back at the house I read to Luke and then left for the Mountain. The drive was pleasant enough. Now I am relaxing and hoping to go to bed soon.
A cool and fun Saturday.
Last night’s thunderstorms brought an end to the heat. This morning my parents came down and met us at the farmers market, after which we went to Cars and Coffee in downtown Columbia. Luke really enjoyed seeing them. We all came back to our house and played and read a bit. Luke gave my parents some pears and squash when they left. I lay down for a bit during the middle of the day and Luke had a little quiet time. After that we went to a pumpkin patch in Chapel Hill. We actually didn’t get a pumpkin, but Luke did do a bunch of fun activities and pet some cool animals. We had to leave a little earlier than ideal since it was getting close to dinner time. Luke was extremely tired so he went to bed almost immediately after bath. I went to Kroger for a bunch of stuff and will hopefully go to bed soon.
Finally ending an unproductive week.
I got to the job site at eight this morning. The plumbers were there but not really working. I worked until about 1:15 with a couple of trips to the lumberyard and Ace Hardware. Back at the cottage I showered then hit the road. I drove to the mechanic’s in Columbia and paid for the work done to the landscaping truck. I will try to drive it home tomorrow. Back at the house I played with Luke until dinner. Liz is putting him to bed now.
Even more marginally more productive.
I didn’t get up as early as Luke and Liz this morning, but did rise earlier than I have been. After breakfast I helped get Luke ready for school. He was more excited than usual (not a high bar) because he was taking little squashes to all of his classmates. I drove up to the Mountain via Lynchburg, changed clothes at the cottage, then headed to the job site. The plumbers were there when I arrived. I worked off and on until a little after five. I stopped next door and chatted with Debbie for a while before showering and eating dinner at the cottage. Now I am just relaxing.
Marginally more productive.
I got to the job site about 7:40 this morning and worked for a couple of hours before returning to the cottage for some oatmeal. Back at the house I worked until a little after one, returned to the cottage for lunch and a shower, then drove to Columbia. I went by the mechanic’s to check on the landscape truck first. He wasn’t there but his assistant said it was repaired. I’ll return on Friday to pay and pick it up. He said it was a pretty quick fix. Feeling good about that I drove home. Luke was happy to see me and we built a Lego tower before dinner. He had a lot to say while we were eating, and stretched out the meal quite a bit. He just finished his bath and now Liz is reading to him. I will probably finish putting him to bed.
Mixed day.
I got going a little earlier this morning and arrived at the job site around 8:30. I worked for an hour or so and then got hungry, so I returned to the cottage for some oatmeal. I also watched an episode of Jack Ryan that I had downloaded to my phone. Then I went on a hike at Sherwood Forest. Yes, that’s its actual name. Back at the cottage I had lunch and relaxed a bit before returning to the job site for a couple more hours of work. After showering I went to Piggly Wiggly, ate dinner, then watched another episode of Jack Ryan. I am about to start a third.
Back at work, slowly.
This morning I struggled to get out of bed, then struggled some more to get to the job site. It was about 9:45 by the time I finally arrived. I worked until about 4:30 and returned to the cottage for a shower and the bean dish I had set in the slow cooker this morning. It ended up being pretty good, especially considering I made it up myself. I want to doing something worthwhile this evening, but I’m not sure what that will look like. It’s getting a little late for a hike or sunset viewing. Maybe I will read some more of Cancer Ward, which I started last night. I read it before and remember liking it a lot, but that is as far as my memories go.
Another hot October day, but back on the Mountain.
This morning after breakfast we went to Target and the playground at Port Royal. Luke enjoyed riding his tricycle on the walking loop and then he played on the playground a bit. After lunch I tried to get him to take a nap only to be frustrated for about 45 minutes. After that disaster he played with Liz for a bit before we went next door to take some squash and cherry wine to Jerry and Janet. From there I drove to Monteagle and was pleased to take a route that was nearly fifty percent new to me. I stopped at the Templeton Library to see sunset, and it was impressive. Unfortunately my camera battery was dead, so I had to make do with my phone. I’ve decided I’m not crazy about my phone’s HDR mode and need to figure out how to turn it off, or at least tone it down. Next I got some food at Piggly Wiggly which I cooked at the cottage. I have since just been relaxing. I can’t decide if I want to read or watch an episode or two of Jack Ryan that I downloaded from my phone.
Simple Saturday.
We started off the morning with a video chat with my parents, who are still in France. After that we went to the farmers market, returned home, then went to the “farmers market” at Henry Horton. I use the quotation marks because in reality it was more like a lame flea market. At least we were able to go to the playground afterwards. After lunch we just hung around the house. Luke went to bed early and I drove to Kroger for a few things. I will try to go to bed early myself.
