Woody, rainy, cold.
This morning I started the day by playing with Luke and his blocks. After breakfast I drove to Chapel Hill for the last of my shiplap and cedar. It started raining as soon as I left there. Up on the Mountain I just unhooked the trailer at the cottage, ate lunch, then went next door to see Debbie. We chatted for a couple of hours then I went back to the cottage and worked on a materials list for insulation, and drew more house plans. The second insulation guy says he will come out tomorrow and I still haven’t gotten a quote from the first guy. It really is damp and miserable outside now. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

A cut (or several hundred) above.
I got a slow start this morning and arrived at the job site around nine. It wasn’t too difficult to back my trailer into position. Then I set up my saw and stand, and started cutting shiplap. I did that for almost seven hours without stopping. I made all the cuts I wanted to, but ran out of time to organize the boards indoors, because I wanted to get home to see Luke before he went to bed. So after stopping by the cottage for some food I hit the road. On my way I called the two insulation guys. One is supposedly going to send a quote and the other is coming by tomorrow afternoon. The drive was uneventful. It was great to see Luke and spend a little time with him before he went to bed.

Heading home, hauling wood.
This morning I went by the job site and hauled trash and cardboard to the dump. Then I stopped by the Goat Market for a few minutes before getting my flatbed trailer at the cottage. I drove home, unloaded the wood with my tractor, ate lunch with Liz and Luke, and played with Luke until he went down for his nap. Then I drove to Cedar Direct in Chapel Hill and picked up two of the units of shiplap that I had ordered. I took a somewhat new route back up to the Mountain. This evening I have been drawing house plans and reading a book on the Patagonia. Tonight is supposed to be the last night of cold weather.

Cold, cold, cold.
As the headline implies, it was cold today. The weather app said 11 degrees when I woke up today. I ate a leisurely breakfast and didn’t get to the job site until about nine. There I loaded the excess deck wood on the trailer, cleaned the house, Put up blocking for the cedar ceilings, and measured for the shiplap so that I can precut it. The plumbers came and put in the tubs, among other things. They should finish up tomorrow.

Church, store, and not much more.
We went to church this morning which was very nice. Luke stayed the whole time in the nursery, most of it without Liz. We came home and had lunch and I prepared lentil curry in the slow cooker. During Luke’s nap I went to Kroger, then prepared my trailer along with some wood and tools to head to Monteagle later this evening. We somewhat followed the Titans game online. Luke was in a great mood all day. Unfortunately it was a bit cold to go to the playground, but we had fun inside. The week ahead will hopefully be busy and productive.

Braving the rain and cold to get some bread.
It was a nasty day out and after a trip to the dump and Harbor Freight, Luke and I ventured out to the farmer’s market to pick up several loaves of bread. We had a nice chat with the bakers before heading to Kroger. Luke did great there and we had a fun day at home playing and reading while Liz was away. When she returned we ate the black beans that I had prepared in the slow cooker, along with some Jasmine rice. Luke was pretty tired due to a short afternoon nap and fell asleep without fussing.
Errands everywhere.
After breakfast I went to the house and did a little caulking. It was really cold. From there I went to the bank, then to the Goat Market, then down to the lumberyard in Winchester. After that I bought cabinets in Shelbyville and lumber in Chapel Hill. In Columbia I ordered interior doors and laminate flooring. I arrived home just before dinner time and was able to play with Luke for a few minutes before we ate.
Rock!
well, we didn’t finish the painting today as hoped, but did get in some rock for the driveway, and passed electrical inspection. So that is progress. I also put up the last slat for the porch railing and prepared the access openings for cover panels. The weather was pretty nice and Kent did a bit more painting. The plumbers started working and I called a couple of insulation guys to get quotes.

Grocery store and more with Luke.
This morning Luke and I went to the grocery store and had a lot of fun. He really enjoyed helping put things in the cart. Back at the house we played a lot with his blocks, read, and while he was napping I cooked a white bean chili in the slow cooker. After Luke went to bed I drove up to the Mountain. It was very stormy so the trip took over two hours.

Fun day with Luke.
Well Luke and I hung out today while Liz worked. We started off reading, then played with blocks, before breaking out some homemade play dough that he and Liz made yesterday. He also helped me unload the dishwasher. His nap wasn’t great – about an hour and a quarter, but he woke up in a good mood. After Liz finished work we went on a walk at the nature park. That was very nice. Dinner was the a lentil dish from the slow cooker, the second meal I prepared in the slow cooker today. It was good. Luke was a bit lively at bedtime but went to sleep without fussing.
