First First Friday.
The day started with me and my father-in-law going into town in search of breakfast burritos. We struck out and instead settled for delicious pastries from the Windmill Bakery. Matt and Krystal were at the house when we returned and it was good to see them for a little bit before they departed for New Orleans. We just chilled for most of the day, especially Luke who had a three hour afternoon nap. As it was getting dark we headed downtown for “First Friday”, a monthly event that we have been wanting to go to for quite a while. The square was pretty quiet, perhaps due to the anticipation of crummy weather, or maybe because everybody was maxed out from the holidays. We had dinner at a little cafe in one corner of the square, then got pie in another corner. Luke did great and really seemed to enjoy being out after dark, again.

21 months!
It was a wet and nasty day, with probably two inches or more of rain coming down. Liz and much of her family went up to Nashville while I stayed at the house with her mother and Luke. I had a meeting that lasted a couple of hours, then I spent most of Luke’s nap time talking with Becky. He slept for about two hours and 45 minutes. Liz returned for dinner and bedtime, along with her dad, Uncle Matt, and Krystal, then we all drove up to the house in Franklin and hung out with the rest of the family until fairly late.
2020!
Well, we made it. Luke slept in just a little bit after his super late night. The day was pretty relaxed for me as we just sort of hung out until the Alabama game started. I watched some of it with my father-in-law, then he went up to Franklin and I took a nap. Early afternoon Liz and Luke also went to Franklin. I spent the afternoon organizing my office, cleaning the kitchen, and working on more house plans. Also eating chips and ice cream. Liz and Luke returned around seven at which point he ate, bathed, nursed, then went to bed. He was a little wild there at the end but went to sleep pretty easily.
Late night party animal.
The day started a bit slowly with Luke sleeping until seven. I went to Kroger for some last minute supplies. We then just hung out with Liz’s dad while waiting for the rest of the family to come down. They ended up running a bit late so we went on to downtown Columbia and got a table at Puckett’s. Once everybody else arrived we had a lovely lunch, then walked around the square a bit. Liz took Luke home for a nap, and her dad watched him while she returned and bought a painting for Luke’s room at Bleu 32. It will cover the electrical panel.
Everybody returned to our house to open presents. We also celebrated Aunt Carrie’s birthday with some delicious cake. Luke enjoyed opening his presents, and received some books, clothes, and a letter play set. All were big hits. Next we headed up to Cool Springs for dinner at Tupelo Honey. It was delicious, and Luke did incredibly well, despite being out way past his bedtime. Back at the house he had a bath and nursed and was in bed after ten.

Low-key day on the farm.
I spent most of the day drawing house plans while also managing to watch an episode of Magnum PI. Liz and Luke went up to Franklin to hang with her family. I needed to do some outside work but wasn’t very motivated. The house is getting cleaned up though, in anticipation of guests tomorrow.
Busy day with grandparents and Bella.
Luke slept in and after breakfast we went on a nice walk at the nature park. We explored an area of it that we hadn’t before, which was really fun. The weather was perfect as well. We spent the rest of the day just relaxing and watching more football.

Blue blur.
Kroger, breakfast, slow cooker, park, lunch, nap, outside work, inside work, dinner, grandparents, football.

Recovering from Christmas, preparing for New Year’s.
I left the house fairly early this morning and drove up the Mountain. I traveled via Fayetteville. Mountain tasks included going to the dump, stopping by City Hall, an unsuccessful stop at the storage unit, a successful stop at Piggly Wiggly, a nap at the cottage, then cleaning the cottage. I hooked up another trailer and pulled it home.
At home I played with Luke, then we all walked around the back field for a while. The sky was pretty and it felt great out. Luke was a little late going to bed this evening. He had lots of energy and didn’t want to stop running around. After he went down I was able to spend a bit of time working on some house plans. We also did some cleaning and organizing in preparation for Liz’s family coming into town.

Stocking, presents, and painting doors.
Luke slept in again this morning. My parents stayed the night, so we had another nice day together. Luke got to empty his stocking and open some presents this morning. After that my dad and I spent most of the rest of the day painting the interior doors. I wasn’t too pleased with my sprayer, although the paint could have been an issue as well. It had been in below freezing temperatures a bit. The doors look a little striped from where the paint didn’t go on evenly. We got a first coat on seven out of seventeen. I’ll get my big sprayer from Monteagle to finish up with. I did also manage to take trash to the dump. After my parents left it was pretty low key. I hope to go to bed early this evening. Tomorrow I’ll go up to the Mountain for a few hours.

First Christmas as a family.
That’s because last year Liz and Luke were in Michigan and I was here. So we had a great day today. Luke slept in a little and this morning we met my parents and Lauren at “our” church for the service. Not many people were there but it was nicely done. Luke had his lunch and then we had ours while he napped. My mother brought down some delicious food. Some presents were exchanged because Lauren had to leave. While my dad napped the rest of us took Luke to the park. There were a lot of bigger kids running wild, but he still had fun. We had dinner then just kind of hung out and talked. Everybody went to bed pretty early.
