More church.

It took a bit of effort but we managed to visit another church this morning. It was an Episcopal church in downtown Columbia. We had a great experience, despite my getting the start time wrong so that we arrived a little late. The afternoon was pretty relaxing and now I am about to drive up to Monteagle.

Big adventure in Hohenwald.

Yes, that really is a place. It’s about 45 minutes west of us. They were having an Oktoberfest celebration today, so we decided to go. Despite the sun it was pretty breezy and chilly outside, so Luke was wearing several layers. The drive over was lovely and the festival was interesting. Most of downtown was blocked off, so walking around was nice. Lots of vendors selling junk, a loud band, and a cool car show. We found the bakers who normally sell at the Columbia farmer’s market and bought pretzels from them. We had a picnic lunch at a playground in town, then returned home via Summertown. That took a while since the “20 mile yard sale” was happening along that route. Back at the house we spent the afternoon playing, had dinner, then bath time.

Unexpected homecoming.

I got an early start hauling the sand to the site and unloading it. Then the mason emailed to say that he wouldn’t make it until maybe Saturday. So I finished the sand, cleaned the footings, returned the U-Haul trailer, packed up, then drove home. I stopped on the way at the Swiss Pantry in Belvidere, which was nice. I had never been before. It was good to see Luke and Liz. I arrived just in time for lunch. We spent the afternoon reading and playing, then went to the playground after his nap. The weather is lovely and it was great to be outside. Dinner and bath time both went well. Liz is at the grocery store now. I should probably be cleaning or something.
