Recovering from Christmas, preparing for New Year’s.

I left the house fairly early this morning and drove up the Mountain. I traveled via Fayetteville. Mountain tasks included going to the dump, stopping by City Hall, an unsuccessful stop at the storage unit, a successful stop at Piggly Wiggly, a nap at the cottage, then cleaning the cottage. I hooked up another trailer and pulled it home.

At home I played with Luke, then we all walked around the back field for a while. The sky was pretty and it felt great out. Luke was a little late going to bed this evening. He had lots of energy and didn’t want to stop running around. After he went down I was able to spend a bit of time working on some house plans. We also did some cleaning and organizing in preparation for Liz’s family coming into town.

Stocking, presents, and painting doors.

Luke slept in again this morning. My parents stayed the night, so we had another nice day together. Luke got to empty his stocking and open some presents this morning. After that my dad and I spent most of the rest of the day painting the interior doors. I wasn’t too pleased with my sprayer, although the paint could have been an issue as well. It had been in below freezing temperatures a bit. The doors look a little striped from where the paint didn’t go on evenly. We got a first coat on seven out of seventeen. I’ll get my big sprayer from Monteagle to finish up with. I did also manage to take trash to the dump. After my parents left it was pretty low key. I hope to go to bed early this evening. Tomorrow I’ll go up to the Mountain for a few hours.

First Christmas as a family.

That’s because last year Liz and Luke were in Michigan and I was here. So we had a great day today. Luke slept in a little and this morning we met my parents and Lauren at “our” church for the service. Not many people were there but it was nicely done. Luke had his lunch and then we had ours while he napped. My mother brought down some delicious food. Some presents were exchanged because Lauren had to leave. While my dad napped the rest of us took Luke to the park. There were a lot of bigger kids running wild, but he still had fun. We had dinner then just kind of hung out and talked. Everybody went to bed pretty early.

Active Christmas Eve.

I finished up the screws I wanted to this morning (still have about 3200, or a whole day’s worth to put down), and headed home. I stopped at Lowe’s in Shelbyville for a few things we needed. I also stopped at a gas station deli in Chapel Hill for a few things I didn’t need. After lunch I went to Aldi for a few last minute items, but struck out on eggnog. This evening we took Luke to the playground, where he ran around and had lots of fun. The sunset was lovely too.
