Not making much progress around the house.
Ran a bunch of errands and cleaned the garage. Didn’t get much else done. Weather is glorious but still lots of drying out to do. Need to start moving lots of dirt and burning some more. Still making my seed list. Have much research to do. I’m monitoring a couple of plows on an online auction site. One of them would help a lot.
Little sleep, much rain.
I was up until about three o’clock this morning looking at vegetable seeds online. Pumpkins and carrots were the main interest, but also checked out okra, peppers, and giant sunflowers. Would like to place an order by the end of the week. I started the morning by making some fleece covers for Luke’s crib railing, since he has recently started chewing on it.. Liz’s mother designed them and Liz got the fabric on Saturday in Cool Springs. The yard was a muddy mess and I tripped and fell as I was loading trash into my car. On my way into town I saw a couple of awesome trucks for sale. I stopped by Big Box for a while to talk with Zach, and then went grocery shopping at Aldi and Kroger. Back at the house I did some office work and once Liz finished up her work day and Luke got done napping we walked around the back field. We looked at where the fruit trees and garden will go. Now I am looking at seeds again, trying to determine what to buy.

Recovering.
My in-laws left early this morning. It was a nice visit, but it is always tiring to have house guests for a week. We relaxed this morning, and attempted to go on a greenway walk this afternoon, but weren’t able to go very far before it started raining. This evening I have been looking at seeds for the garden. Feeling pretty inspired to grow some stuff.

Baptism.
Well, it was a pretty big day. Luke was baptized this afternoon. The priest came to our house and sprinkled Luke. He (Little Man) didn’t really enjoy the experience. I thought it was a nice little ceremony and was happy that both sets of grandparents were here to witness it. This evening we set up the TV on the back deck to watch basketball. It was a little chilly, but otherwise nice. My father-in-law and I went into town to get us tacos in between games. This morning he helped me plan where we will plant our garden and orchard.

On the road…again.
I had to run up to Nashville this morning, but was able to do so fairly quickly. This afternoon my father-in-law and I went on a little cruise. We first headed to downtown Columbia and stopped at the “Motor Alley”. We were invited into a shop that works on many cars owned by Mike Wolfe of American Pickers fame. Photography wasn’t allowed, but the guy working there told us all about the cars (a mix of old foreign and domestic) and answered all of our questions. Next we cruised out Hampshire Pike, with a couple of detours through new neighborhoods and down interesting backroads. The Natchez Trace was further out than I remembered, but eventually we made it, and headed north. The drive was so beautiful – spring is arriving with gusto and the landscape is turning green. We stopped at Jackson Falls and walked down to the waterfall. It didn’t have much flow, but was still pretty. We exited the Trace at Highway 7 and cruised back to the farm. Liz, her mother, and Luke were returning just as we arrived.

On the road.
My dad, father-in-law, and I went on a bit of a road trip today. We drove up to Monteagle, stopping at the Templeton Library and campus farm (saw one new baby goat, not in camera range) on the way. After checking in at the cottage we had a nice meal at the Mountain Goat Market. Next we cruised through the Assembly, saw Tennessee’s first tiny home development, and drove through Beersheba Springs. Finally we reached the real reason for our trip – a couple of nurseries in Mcminnville. The first wasn’t very impressive, but the second was awesome. They had a huge variety of fruit trees, and I hope to return this fall to buy a bunch. We drove the back roads home.

Not as good a day as yesterday.
From unlimited blueberry puffs to getting three shots. Quite the fall from grace. On the bright side, the doctor gave a very positive report today.
Little Man turns 1!
It sure is hard to believe. I think he had a pretty good day. My parents and sister came down, and Liz’s parents are still here. He ate unlimited blueberry puffs at lunch.

Birthday eve.
Gearing up for a big day tomorrow…
First overnight guests.
I started the day off with a trip to Kroger. That went better than expected. I finished mowing the back field, and it looks pretty good. Left the blackberry bushes at Liz’s request. Today was a bit cooler. Liz’s parents arrived safely and are getting settled in the apartment.
