Adjusting.

It sure feels different to have three more creatures in the house! And it is nice. But wow, I forgot how much work the little one is. I went on a long to Walmart today and did some more unpacking. We still have a long way to go though.

Trying to get settled.

There is lots to unpack. We pretty much just got (some of) the essentials done today. Luke slept very poorly last night but was in a good mood. Lily the cat is probably adapting better than any of us. It was a nasty, rainy day, so we didn’t go outside at all. Tomorrow I need to go on a couple of shopping expeditions. The house feels rather different with three additional inhabitants.

Moving stuff, cleaning, anticipating.

I went to Lowe’s and got paint first thing this morning. Then I went and picked up the trailer while my dad painted. We hauled two loads of stuff before it started raining. Then we moved stuff around inside. Tomorrow him and my mother will come do a little more cleaning while I drive up to get Liz and Luke. My mother and two of her friends came by today to check out the house. I feel like it is starting to look pretty good. We were working too hard to take any pictures. After calling it a day we drove up here to Nashville where my mother fixed a delicious dinner. I will try to go to bed pretty early since I plan on leaving at the crack tomorrow.

Finally off the mountain.

Well today was another disaster. They called about 4:30 to let me know that the power steering had been repaired, but when they were test driving it one of the brake calipers locked up. That wouldn’t be repaired until the end of tomorrow at the earliest. So my dad drove up here to get me, and we came to the farm, where we’ll spend the night. Fortunately we fortified ourselves with ice cream from the Goat Market before leaving town. We’ll work all day tomorrow before going to Nashville.

Trying day on the mountain.

Car didn’t get repaired today. They have promised me that it will be done by tomorrow afternoon. The cushion that I had to prepare for Liz and Luke has all but disappeared. Fortunately my parents came to the house and cleaned today. I just wasted the day away.

Frustrating day on the mountain.

Well I didn’t photograph last night since the rain didn’t let up. This morning I drove around a little and the steering was still off, so I returned to the mechanic. He said that the new pump was bad. He is ordering a new one and it should arrive tomorrow. So another day wasted.

Today was cold and wet again, so I didn’t bike anywhere. I did some reading.

Boring day on the mountain.

What does one do when carless on a cold, rainy day in Monteagle? Not much of anything! I dropped my car off at the mechanic’s at eight this morning and biked back to the cottage. Highlights of the day include napping, reading, and walking to the Mexican restaurant for lunch. At three my car was ready, so I biked back to get it. The rear end was fixed but steering still was off. He said they reattached a hose bit couldn’t get all of the air out of the lines, but driving it a bit would improve things. So I drove over to campus but the goats weren’t out. Then I drove to the Natural Bridge and took a few pictures. Just with my phone, I was too lazy to set up my real camera. It looked pretty with all the mist. Next I drove to Foster Falls. I just walked to the overlook. No pictures because I was talking on my phone. My steering hasn’t really improved. This has me a little nervous and will keep my from driving home tonight. I would much rather have a serious issue in the daylight. I do have a touch of cabin fever though, and might try to go photograph at one of the lakes tonight of it isn’t too drizzly. There should be some moon out to help light things a little.
