Life’s a beach.

After breakfast we loaded up and headed over to the lake. It was a bit cooler over there and very pleasant. As you can see from the pictures below we pretty much had the place to ourselves in the beginning. Some other folks arrived later but they stayed a ways away from us. Luke enjoyed playing in the sand even if the water was a bit too cold for enjoyment. We got a takeout lunch from a nearby sandwich shop and ate at a deserted park. Back at the farm Luke played outside a bit and explored his grandfather’s camper van, Buzz. Dinner and bath time led to a nice and early bed time for everybody.

Working.

Today I spent pretty much the whole day working on materials lists for the new house. I also had a nice nap this morning. Getting a bit burned out on staying at the in-law’s.

More fun Monday.

Luke slept in again this morning, thankfully. He had speech therapy in between outside play times. Lots of sticks were picked up. He ate a massive lunch and then had a decent nap. Afterwards he played outside a lot more, mostly around the barn where he watched the horses. John and I spent the afternoon finishing up the fence. We actually worked on it after dinner as well, but did finally get it done. It was a bit warmer today.

Super lazy Sunday.

Luke slept in a little this morning, which was nice. After breakfast everybody was just sitting around doing nothing, so I decided to take a very long nap until after lunch. Once Luke woke up from his nap we went for ice cream at Fremont Lake then to the playground at Liz’s old elementary school. The day ended with another camp fire.

Exploring.

Today was Papa’s birthday, so we had lots of good times and good food. Luke woke up before six, so that was a little rough, but it was a nice morning. We drove over to the Dog and Suds in Whitehall for lunch, and Luke got to play around in Buzz. We went on a walk on the adjacent greenway where he threw rocks into the pond. This evening we got take out Mexican food.

Still having fun.

Well, the day started and ended with fires. This morning John and I set a brush pile ablaze. Luke watched but wasn’t too impressed. We made a couple of trips to TSC to pick up more wood posts for our fence, set them plus some metal posts, and strung a bit of wire. Not sure when we will finish up. Luke discovered that he really enjoys finding earthworms, so we spent a bit of time searching for them in the garden. After he went to be Liz and I went to Meijer, which has to be my favorite grocery store of all time. I bought a lot of tasty junk food. When we returned there was a fire waiting for us in the back yard, so we sat and talked with her parents for a couple of hours. It was quite chilly out, which made the fire enjoyable.

Cooler weather brings more fun.

This morning Luke slept a little later than he has been recently, which was great. After he got up we went out to see the moon before breakfast. After breakfast John and I made some repairs to the rototiller and he tilled Becky’s garden while Luke watched gleefully. We all had a picnic snack together. After lunch we built a fence along one of the back fields. Dinner was delicious, as all meals have been. We did get a surprise rain shower this evening.

Cooler, wetter weather.

We are still having a great time. I got up fairly early this morning to take some pictures. It was nice and cool out after last night’s storms. Soon after we brought Luke out to look at the moon, which he loved, as usual. Liz didn’t work today except for a brief afternoon meeting, so we had a lot of time to do stuff. We all rode in the truck to the back of the property, then walked to he big pond. Luke was thrilled to see two turtles. It was a scouting trip to determine where a platform will be built.

Before lunch John and I went to get some fresh strawberries from an Amish lady on the other side of town. They were a big hit with Luke. During his nap I did some work on the next house design and materials lists. After he woke up we played with a train, then went outside to pick up sticks and ride the dump truck. It had stormed between lunch and play time. He ate a ton of strawberries at dinner and did not want to go to bed.

Cramming everything into a hot day.

We got an early start this morning when we went outside to see the moon. After breakfast Luke and Becky made banana bread, we played a lot, worked a little bit, and he ate snack without his tray. I mulched the flower beds while Luke napped. This afternoon he picked up more sticks and rode around on the tricycle. Storms rolled in this evening. Liz and I went to Meijer tonight after Luke went to bed. It is probably my favorite grocery store. I will try to return soon without Liz in order to get more goodies.

More fun on the farm.

It was a pretty busy day with lots of projects getting done. We moved wood, mulched, and Luke got his first ride in the little Cushman farm cart. It was pretty warm today and will be hotter tomorrow. We had pizza for dinner and it was delicious.
